“Sugar Free”

Here is a poem I wrote for someone that has played an instrumental part in my growth. In my early days, I struggled with expression, and one of the ways I could write and recite. I needed to express how important she was to me and of value so I wrote her this. This poem blossomed me to experience a whole new part of me that I didn’t know I had. This one is dear to me and deeply inspired by another radiant and passionate human i have grown to love, admire, and respect.

A sugar-free sweet soul, fiery and passionate wonโ€™t let a lot go, but a little she can handle it.

All men get put to the test Inside sheโ€™s a kitten, outside sheโ€™s a lioness. I wanted to be her fire extinguisher I knew when the flame grew too loud it couldnโ€™t distinguish her.

ย I knew if I got too close itโ€™ll sting and burn at first. I knew if she embraced me it wouldnโ€™t burn or hurt.ย

Prayers have been sent and blessings have been delivered. Accepted gratefully with praise but my sins make me shiver.

A soft yellow skin tone her eyes are star kissed aย  reflective perception when sheโ€™s locked in with the darkest.

ย I want you to know from the bottom of my soul itโ€™s an unconditional love for you that glows. Yin and yang I mean yin and yin or yang and yang we like two twin thangs with enough love to feed a gang.

If I could leave you with words Iโ€™d say pardon darling I have fallen I have been mesmerized and taunted for your eyes wonโ€™t leave my head they wonโ€™t stop sparkling. Next time I promise to be more charming. Next time I wonโ€™t be causing any arguing or harming. Unless I’m arguing about the harmony that Iโ€™m causing. Next time it wonโ€™t be any stalling just me covering your heart as we keep falling.

I promise you this if I lose my chance for us to meet the reverend if I’m not there to protect you when itโ€™s time to pull a weapon.

My black ass will be waiting patiently for you when we get to heaven.
